Backup all of the files in your BOINC folder to a safe location. This is commonly C:\Program Files\BOINC\ I normally like to use Winrar & just compress everything so I have C:\Program files\BOINC.rar |
| Step 2) | Install BOINC 6.12.xx over your current installation. |

Stop BOINC & restore boincmgr.exe & boinc.dll from the old version For many system you can place the old boincmgr.exe & boinc.dll in your current folder & everything will be fine. If so you are done |

If BOINC Manager does want to run you might need a few extra files & steps. I found on a few older XP x86 systems I needed to do this. You may also need the older version of Microsoft.VC80.CRT.manifest, msvcm80.dll, msvcp80.dll, msvcm80.dll, & sqlite3.dll. Place these files in a seperate folder. I used BOINC\BM A copy of your gui_rpc_auth.cfg will need to be place in this folder as well if you are using one. Also I removed C:\Program Files\BOINC\boincmgr.exe so I would not run it by accident. |

Make a batch file to start everthing for you. I called mine boinc_go.bat but you can use whatever you like. This is an example of the files I use. pushd "%programfiles%\BOINC" boinc.exe --detach start BM\boincmgr.exe /s |
